Abstract: In this paper, we first present the typical problems that have occurred in China, from urban environmental governance and urban street management. Then, we illustrate how to apply the methods of the Intelligent Road Maintenance and Management (IRMM) system to solve these problems. The IRMM system is used as a smart street management system with intelligent road maintenance. This smart street management system is composed of various technologies. The intelligent street management system is based on the WEB technology, mobile technology, sensor technology, data acquisition technology, information technology, and real-time monitoring and data analysis technology, and has the following functions: road pavement management, road maintenance, road management, urban traffic management, and the collection and analysis of environmental data. Finally, the application results of the smart street management system in Beijing and Shanghai are introduced. The system has been applied to the city roads, and the results show that it is feasible and effective.
Abstract:Digital maps of road networks are a vital part of digital cities and intelligent transportation. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review on road extraction based on various remote sensing data sources, including high-resolution images, hyperspectral images, synthetic aperture radar images, and light detection and ranging. This review is divided into three parts. Part 1 provides an overview of the existing data acquisition techniques for road extraction, including data acquisition methods, typical sensors, application status, and prospects. Part 2 underlines the main road extraction methods based on four data sources. In this section, road extraction methods based on different data sources are described and analysed in detail. Part 3 presents the combined application of multisource data for road extraction. Evidently, different data acquisition techniques have unique advantages, and the combination of multiple sources can improve the accuracy of road extraction.
