Five years later, Lincoln finally saved the day, as he killed Barts and the rest of the vampires in Springfield. One of Barts' fellow vampires comes to consume one of his own, Jake, but Lincoln takes the opportunity to kill him. Lincoln then forged an alliance with Sturgess. Meanwhile, Vadomas has kidnapped the grandson of Horntail, the leader of the North American vampires. Horntail tries to break the alliance, to no avail. Lincoln goes to New Orleans, where he kills Vadoma, and then Horntail. Horntail is able to survive by turning a local cop, who then kills Lincoln. However, Lincoln escapes from his glass coffin and takes many years to kill the rest of the vampires in New Orleans.
Around this time, Lincoln became friends with his former rival, Ulysses S. Grant. Lincoln tells Vadoma that she had killed no one, when she says that Sturgess had been the one to perpetrate all of the murders. She escapes from her glass coffin and sneaks into the bedroom of Abe and Julia, where she kills many people and drags Julia out of the room. She gives Julia a new identity, and places a necklace around Julia's neck. Later, Julia is cursed, and turns into a vampire, much to Lincoln's horror. Vadoma asks Lincoln to do the same to her. However, to regain the opportunity to save Julia, he breaks his word. Vadoma leaves, and Tom, Julia's new best friend, gives her the necklace to prevent her from turning Julia. Julia lives a normal life with Tom, but still remains cursed.
Meanwhile, Lincoln became president of the United States. During his time in office, he launched the Civil War, which resulted in the deaths of many people, and also, as a result of the war, the emancipation of the slaves. Lincoln is elected president again, and declares the liberation of the vampire slaves. Horntail is freed, and Lincoln gives him a silver pocket watch which bears the inscription, "The Most American Game of All" and a pocketknife embossed with the words, "Abraham Lincoln’s Vampire Hunter. d2c66b5586
